Stephen Mallard

Total Sports Physio, Maidstone & Aylesford, is operated by Stephen Mallard.

Stephen is a sports physiotherapist who studied at King’s College, London, gaining experience at some of the biggest hospitals in London, including Guy’s, St. Thomas’ and The National Neurology and Neurosurgery Hospital.

Prior to this, Stephen completed a degree in Exercise Science (Health & Rehabilitation) in Bournemouth, where he could focus on developing specific exercise rehab strategies for many conditions and hobbies, as well as playing in the very successful Bournemouth University golf teams.

Before founding Total Sports Physio in Maidstone & Aylesford, he worked for a well established private sports injury clinic in Surrey, seeing and treating every variety of MSK patient.

It was clear his passion was in sports and running, which is why Total Sports Physio was founded. Since working in Maidstone & Aylesford, he has worked with:

  • A performing musical artist
  • Male and female tour level professional golfers
  • Professional footballers and age group elites
  • Sub 2:20:00 marathon runners and elite triathletes
  • Professional boxers
  • A world class Motocross rider
  • Elite cricketers
  • Elite tennis players

As well as countless recreational athletes across almost every sport.

Stephen has always had a passion for sports, playing golf, tennis, football and rugby to high standards, gaining further qualifications in sports massage, a level 1 coaching badge in football, has undertaken training with the Titleist Performance Institute in golf and learned running injury assessment & treatment from a world renowned running physiotherapist.

Golf played a huge part in his life, having played since 10 and achieving a Scratch handicap in the past. Recreational running is now the main focus, having a sub 1:30 half marathon and sub 3:30 marathon, as well as achieving sub 20 minutes and 40minutes for 5k and 10k races respectively. His efforts are now turned to completing the 6 major marathons all in under 3 hours.

As someone who continually puts high levels of demand through his body, he’s no stranger to an injury or two. This has the advantage of having first hand experience in how an injury can affect your life and knowing the best ways to rehabilitate those injuries to get back doing what you love doing.
